What Are Hot Markets?

A “hot” market is one that’s getting a lot of trading activity in a short time. When many traders suddenly pile into a market with big bets, something interesting is probably happening!

How Hot Market Detection Works

Predicade watches for markets where:
  1. Multiple trades happen in a short time window
  2. Total volume (money) crosses a threshold
  3. Individual trades are big enough to matter
When all conditions are met, you get a “Hot Market” alert.
Hot Market Alert triggers when:
  ✓ X trades happen within Y minutes
  AND
  ✓ Total volume >= threshold
  AND
✓ Each trade >= minimum size

Why Hot Markets Matter

Information Signal

Multiple traders acting at once often means new information is available

Momentum Indicator

Markets that get hot tend to continue moving

Opportunity Finder

Discover markets you might have missed

News Detection

Hot markets often coincide with news events
Caution: A hot market doesn’t mean the crowd is right! Sometimes markets get hot on rumors or emotional reactions. Always do your own research before trading.

Combining with Other Filters

Hot market detection works alongside your other filters:
  • Tags: Only get hot alerts for topics you care about
  • Time filters: Exclude very short-term hot markets
  • Liquidity: Ensure the market has enough depth

Reports Tab

In addition to real-time hot market alerts, Predicade sends periodic reports:

Report Types

ReportWhat It Shows
Most Traded BuysTop 10 markets with highest net buy pressure (24h)
Most Traded SellsTop 10 markets with highest net sell pressure (24h)
Frequency: Reports are sent every 2 hours, based on the last 24 hours of activity. These reports help you see the bigger picture beyond individual hot market moments.

Troubleshooting

Check these things:
  1. Hot market alerts are separate from trade alerts - make sure they’re enabled
  2. For free users, defaults are strict - this is intentional
  3. Markets may be quiet - not every day has hot markets
Tighten your settings:
  1. Increase the trade count requirement
  2. Increase the aggregate volume threshold
  3. Lengthen the detection window (catches only sustained interest)
If you’re a free user, the 5-minute window means you’ll see alerts after some activity has occurred. Premium users can reduce the window to 1-3 minutes for faster detection.
